The soundscape accompanying Rudra Pravah is an immersive auditory journey that mirrors the chaotic energy and spiritual undertones of the painting. Layered with the resonant sounds of rainfall, crashing waves, and temple bells, the piece captures the tumultuous power of water during the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.

The rainfall evokes the relentless downpour that transforms serene landscapes into rushing torrents.

The waves reflect the unstoppable force of nature, while the ringing temple bells symbolize hope, resilience, and humanity’s unyielding faith amidst adversity.

This sound piece is designed to transport listeners into the heart of the scene, blending chaos with a meditative rhythm that invites reflection on the dual nature of destruction and renewal. It’s not just an accompaniment—it’s an extension of the story, bringing the visual and auditory senses into perfect harmony.

गहराइयाँ (Gehraiyaa) is accompanied by a haunting audio piece that mirrors the depth and intensity of the painting. The audio captures the echoes of water, the rush of waves, and distant whispers, evoking the profound silence and chaos of the depths. It draws listeners into the immersive essence of the artwork, making them feel as though they are sinking into the layered emotions and stories embedded within the painting.

I recorded my grandfather's voice while he was praying to highlight the religious and spiritual dimensions of natural disasters. To add more essence to the audio, I even incorporated some thunderstorm and rainy effects into it. I believe that such events can evoke feelings of fear and vulnerability and that people often turn to their faith to find solace and comfort in times of crisis.

I made a QR code for visitors to scan and put on their headphones/ earphones to listen to the sound whilst looking at the painting. I did that to have my visitors an immersive experience of flood.

Back in 2013, when I was in India, I was stuck in a life-threatening flood with my grandparents in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. This flood caused a lot of destruction around the state, and I was stuck there for 15-20 days with limited internet connection, electricity and mobile network. All I remember was water gushing all the time, thunderstorm, people screaming, cars, houses, trees, everything being floated away in water, people dying, police taking rounds around the place telling us to be in our hotel, ambulance sirens, etc. It was a very chaotic scene, and I am thankful that my family and I safely made it out of that place. This sound and video piece is a glimpse of that traumatic memory.
